It is with deep sadness and loss that we announce the passing of our dear friend and board member, Donna Hecht. Donna was very instrumental in making Fiesta what it is today because of her love for the Spanish Horse. Her dearly departed Jay was the reason we all work so hard to make Fiesta successful in the fight against Cancer, and dedicated so much to the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center. Fiesta 2010 will be dedicated in her Honor. Donna, our friend, you will be missed
but
we will never stop loving you. A success in raising awareness and funds for Cancer Research
Fiesta of The Spanish
Horse is a 501 (C) 3 California Non Profit Organization dedicated to
raise much needed funds for an exceptional cause - finding a cure
for Cancer. It also plays an important role in integrating
communities by honoring horses and people steeped in rich tradition.
Fiesta of The Spanish Horse is held each spring at Los Angeles Equestrian Center. It is a four-day event that features multi-breed competitions to include this year an OPEN Dressage Show on Thursday May 6 and an "Extravaganza" show performed on Saturday evening. Performances demonstrate the agility of the Paso Finos, Andalusians, Lusitanos, Peruvian Horses, Friesians, Aztecas, Hispano-Arabe, Mangalarga Marchadors and other high-stepping Spanish bred horses. The days of equine entertainment includes Latin, Mariachi, Flamenco, Folklorico dancing and music. The event is filled with a variety of vendors and authentic Spanish food.
Proven success Fiesta's average number of horses attending the show each year is about 300 - 350, with sell out crowds for the past 4 years at the Extravaganza event.
Every year the Extravaganza event at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center (Equidome) is dedicated to a special person connected to our cause. In 2007 Mr. Art Gaytan was given special award for his involvement, 2009 the show was a great tribute to our friend Vaughan Smith, and this year 2010 the show will be dedicated in loving memory of Donna Hecht who opened the door to so many of us involved with the Andalusian, Lusitano, and P.R.E. Horses.
We are excited to be able to have a fantastic horse event from which we can help raise funds for our recipients. THANK YOU TO ALL OF THOSE WHO HAVE MADE THIS SHOW A SUCCESS
THEN, NOW, AND IN
THE FUTURE!
We look forward to seeing each and everyone one of you at the
Fiesta Horse Show and hope you enjoy the Saturday Night
Extravaganza
as much as we do putting it on for you - and we
gratefully thank you for your commitment to our mission.
